POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One woman has died following a residential fire early Tuesday morning in the 2700 block of Lincoln Avenue, according to the Point Pleasant Fire Department.
Fire crews responded to the scene just before 7:00 a.m. and rescued an adult female from the burning structure.
She was transported to Rivers Health, where she later died from her injuries.
The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the fire was accidental in nature.
The investigation into the exact cause is ongoing.
The Gallipolis Fire Department, Point Pleasant Police Department, and Mason County EMS assisted at the scene.
The fire department has extended its condolences to the victim’s family and asked the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
