WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Ohio man was killed and a woman was injured Sunday following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 in Wood County.
The crash was reported just before 1:15 p.m. near mile marker 180.2 on I-77 North, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway into the earth median, rolled over and came to rest in the median. Two people were inside the vehicle.
The passenger, identified as 57-year-old Michael Todd Walker of Carrollton, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, whose name was not released, was transported to Camden Clark Medical Center for injuries that were believed to be non-life-threatening.
I-77 North was temporarily closed at mile marker 179 following the crash but has since reopened.
“The Wood County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and friends of Michael Walker during this difficult time,” the sheriff’s office said.
The crash remains under investigation. Deputies said no charges have been filed at this time.
