ELKVIEW, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A single-vehicle crash early Monday morning on Interstate 79 has left one person dead, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred near the 7-mile marker on I-79 and was reported to Metro 911 around 5:23 a.m. Deputies arrived to find a Dodge pickup truck overturned in the median.

The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling northbound when it veered off the roadway, entered the median, struck a drainage structure, and overturned.
The driver was an adult male from out of state. Authorities are withholding his identity until next of kin are notified.
Crash reconstruction experts were on the scene for much of the morning. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Motorists in the area experienced delays as crews worked to investigate the scene and complete cleanup efforts.
