CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Parkersburg man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge after admitting to selling methamphetamine and an unregistered firearm.
Aaron Lee Mitter, 39, pleaded guilty Tuesday to distributing a quantity of methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Court documents state that on July 11, 2024, Mitter sold approximately 24.52 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $280.
As part of the same transaction, he also sold an unregistered privately made firearm, known as a “ghost gun,” along with a 45-round magazine for $400.
Six days later, on July 17, 2024, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a Parkersburg apartment where Mitter was staying.
During the search, officers seized approximately 45.67 grams of methamphetamine. Mitter admitted he intended to use part of the drugs and sell the rest.
Mitter is scheduled to be sentenced on September 22, 2025. He faces up to 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, and the Parkersburg Police Department.
United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin is presiding over the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney JC MacCallum is prosecuting.
