CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In a press conference Thursday morning, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that over 1,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested in the state this year.
Morrisey said the state has been working with ICE and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem since he took office to help arrest those in the country illegally.

In August, Gov. Morrisey announced that West Virginia had entered into a 287 (g) agreement with ICE, enabling designated local officers to perform certain immigration enforcement functions under ICE’s direction and oversight.
Since that agreement was made, 355 ICE detainees have passed through West Virginia correctional facilities, according to Morrisey.
Morrisey also stated that 37 illegal immigrants have been arrested in just the last 11 days.
Locally, 12 illegal immigrants were arrested late last month in Fayette County.
