GLEN JEAN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Over 230,000 people visited America’s newest national park last month.
According to data from the National Park Service (NPS), 233,731 individuals were recorded to have visited New River Gorge National Park & Preserve in June.
The number is right around the same number of visitors recorded in June of 2023 at 234,109.
NPS-owned campgrounds saw 3,436 overnight campers in June bringing the total to 9,003 for the year.
Compared to this time last year, the park has seen a 4.64% increase in overall visitation for 2024.
In June of 2023, the park had recorded 714,350 visitors but is currently at 747,517 visitors in 2024 as of last month.
Stats for July, one of the busiest months for the park, will be released at the beginning of August.
