FAIRLEA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two individuals are facing child neglect charges after the overdose of a two-year-old child on Friday.
According to Chief Deputy Bart Baker of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, on the morning of Friday, December 22, 2023, members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department responded to a Greenbrier County hospital after a toddler had reportedly overdosed on drugs.
The child was initially transported to the emergency room area by EMS personnel and had twice been administered naloxone during the transport.
The young child was admitted to the hospital and was expected to be transferred to another medical facility.
Members of the Greenbrier Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for a room at a local motel where the parents of the child had been staying with the child.
Execution of the search warrant led to the discovery of illegal narcotics as well as drug paraphernalia, all of which were seized by law enforcement.
The room was processed by the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene unit and both parents were arrested.
Kaenon L. Hundley – age 26 of Fairlea, WV – and Ireland Keen – age 24, of Fairlea, WV – were each charged with one count each of Child Neglect with Risk of Death or Serious Bodily Injury.
The lead investigator in the case is Deputy Tyler Cutlip of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department.
