BRAMWELL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County man faces charges following a domestic incident which occurred last week involving a juvenile teen.
According to reports from Deputy Mikles of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, on Wednesday, Deputies Mikles and N.J. Mason, along with Cpl. Calloway, responded to Princeton Avenue in the Bramwell area of Mercer County regarding reports of a domestic disturbance.
As authorities were en route, Mercer E-911 advised that the complainant was a 14-year-old juvenile who advised that she had been struck by her mother’s boyfriend. The victim, along with her mother, could be seen in the roadway in front of the residence upon arrival at the scene.
The victim’s informed responding officers that the defendant, Brandon Petit, had struck them, was highly intoxicated, and was still inside the residence. They further stated that they wished to pursue charges.
A statement obtained by N.J. Mason reveals that a friend of the mother’s had come to the residence to help her leave, and that as the mother was being wheeled out of the residence, Petit picked up the her walker and threw it at her, striking her in the legs.
Reports also indicate that the juvenile heard her mother scream and fall, and that when the juvenile went to the bathroom to see what had happened, Petit began yelling and cursing at her through the door. Petit then reportedly punched through the bathroom door, putting a hole in the door and hitting the juvenile.
As authorities searched the residence, Petit could be heard talking to himself inside. Several attempts were made by Deputy Mason to have Petit come out of the bathroom, to which he did not comply. He did, however, open the door briefly to argue with deputies before shutting the door and continuing to yell obscenities and behave in a belligerent manner toward responding officers.
Petit was informed by officers that he was being arrested for domestic battery and that he needed to open the door and was then given multiple opportunities to do so. Petit cracked the door, at which point Deputy Mason forced entry into the bathroom, forcibly placing the defendant’s arms behind his back as he resisted arrest.
The defendant was naked at the time of the encounter, and thus was dressed by deputies after being secured. Deputies observed a hole in the bathroom door consistent with the statement of the aforementioned juvenile involved.
Brandon Petit was placed under arrest for two counts of domestic battery and obstructing, and it was revealed by Mercer E-911 that Petit also had multiple out-of-state warrants. One of these, an outstanding warrant out of Richland County, Ohio, was confirmed. Petit was secured, searched, and transported to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office to undergo processing procedures.
