DANIELS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County man is facing multiple charges after police say home security cameras captured him repeatedly entering a neighbor’s fenced property while completely naked, including four separate incidents over less than a week.
According to the West Virginia State Police, a trooper was dispatched to a residence in Daniels at approximately 6:44 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, following a complaint involving an ongoing problem with a neighbor.
The complainant told police that the neighbor had allegedly been exposing himself through the windows of his home and walking through the neighborhood completely unclothed. The issue had reportedly been reported before, but the complainant said a series of incidents around the holiday weekend had now been captured on home security cameras.
The neighbor was identified by police as Joey Cozart.
According to the complaint, security footage allegedly showed Cozart walking to the complainant’s residence, discreetly opening a gate leading into a privacy-fenced backyard and entering the rear patio area while completely naked and exposing his genitals.
Police say the security cameras captured Cozart allegedly trespassing on the property while nude on four separate occasions:
- June 29: Approximately 2:24 a.m. to 2:28 a.m.
- July 1: Approximately 11:36 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.
- July 3: Approximately 2:57 a.m. to 3:14 a.m.
- July 4: Approximately 12:50 a.m. to 1 a.m.
According to the investigating trooper, each time Cozart allegedly entered the property, he appeared to walk out of the camera’s view toward an area where patio furniture was located.
During the July 3 incident, police say Cozart appeared to notice the security camera, walked several steps toward it to get a closer look and then continued before eventually leaving the property.
After reviewing the security footage, the trooper spoke with Cozart and asked why he had allegedly trespassed onto the property while completely nude on multiple occasions.
“That’s probably a stupid thing to do. I’ve got a little bit of a problem there. I’m trying to fight it. I’ve sought sexual counseling and I slipped up,” Cozart allegedly told the trooper, according to the criminal complaint.
Police say Cozart also acknowledged trespassing on the property and allegedly explained what he was doing while there.
“All I was doing was sitting in their chair. I knew they weren’t home and I guess I felt a thrill from it,” Cozart allegedly said.
West Virginia State Police say Cozart will be charged with four counts of indecent exposure and four counts of trespassing.
The charges are accusations, and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
