(LOOTPRESS) – Cabot Creamery, a Vermont-based dairy company, is recalling more than 1,700 pounds of butter after tests revealed elevated levels of coliform bacteria, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Coliform is a type of bacteria typically found in human and animal feces, reports Eating Well.
The recall affects eight-ounce packages of Cabot Creamery Extra Creamy Premium Sea Salted Butter.
The product includes two four-ounce sticks and carries the UPC number 078354 620380. Affected packages have a best-by date of September 9, 2025, and lot numbers “090925-055” and “2038.”
The butter was distributed to stores in Arkansas, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.
The FDA has classified the recall as Class III, meaning the product is not likely to cause adverse health effects, according to USA TODAY.
