DAVIS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Hellbender Burritos, a beloved local restaurant in Davis known for its oversized burritos and dedication to quality, has closed its doors after nearly 18 years in business.
The owners announced the closure effective immediately, citing a desire to refocus on their personal lives after years of dedication to the restaurant.
Since opening, Hellbender Burritos built a strong reputation for serving made-from-scratch food and offering a selection of top-quality local beers.
Despite adapting to challenges—including a reinvention during the COVID-19 pandemic that improved efficiency—the growing demands of the restaurant ultimately led to the decision to close.
“Our commitment to quality, consistency, and our community has only been topped by our customers’ commitment to us,” the owners shared in their farewell message.
They expressed gratitude to their loyal staff and patrons, many of whom have supported the business from its early days.
As tourism in the area grew, so did Hellbender Burritos’ success, but the owners noted that maintaining the restaurant left little time to enjoy the region themselves.
“The time has come for us to enjoy this area as much as everyone who comes to visit does,” they said.
The announcement ended with a heartfelt farewell: “May Swimmy live on in your hearts forever. See you on the trails!”
