CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A power line fell at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) this morning, causing a fire and damage to 14 vehicles in one of the employee parking lots at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
There were no injuries reported in this incident.
CAMC officials say that the downed power line also resulted in a power outage at CAMC Memorial Hospital and the physician’s office building affecting, among other things, the air conditioning throughout.
As a result, CAMC Memorial Hospital’s emergency room had to go on diversion, and several non-emergency (outpatient) visits, as well as physician office appointments, were canceled.
Air conditioning has been restored and Memorial Hospital is no longer on diversion.
CAMC says that they are working to reschedule patients whose visits were cancelled today. Memorial Hospital will return to normal operations first thing Wednesday morning, including elective procedures and outpatient appointments in physicians’ offices in the MSOB.
