WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Hundreds of Appalachian Power customers across southern West Virginia are without electricity Saturday afternoon as severe thunderstorms move across the Mountain State.
As of 2:27 p.m., Appalachian Power reported the following outages:
- Fayette County: 476 customers
- Greenbrier County: 143 customers
- McDowell County: 447 customers
- Nicholas County: 477 customers
- Raleigh County: 476 customers
- Wyoming County: 197 customers

The outages come as strong thunderstorms continue to develop across the region, bringing the potential for damaging wind gusts, large hail and frequent lightning.
The outages are currently being assessed by Appalachian Power.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for multiple West Virginia counties until 10 p.m. Saturday as storms continue to track across the state.
