James Monroe starter Kaden Lowe limited Tazewell to one run on a pair of hits Tuesday, leading the Mavericks past the Bulldogs 7-1 at Bowen Field in Bluefield.
Peyton Gardinier had two hits and two RBI, while Baylee Ridgeway also collected two hits and had one RBI. Hudson Boggess, Cooper Ridgeway and Carson Koen also drove in a run for the Mavs (9-4-1).
James Monroe is 2-0 in Coppinger games and will play Princeton Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Hunnicutt Field.
Over at Princeton’s Hunnicutt Field in the first game Tuesday, Beckley suffered its first loss of the tournament in a 2-0 setback to Graham.
The Flying Eagles (10-7) had two hits from Gage Price, but could not push a runner across. Tristan Hass had an RBI and a double for the G-Men and Cam McCroskey also drove in a run.
In the nightcap at Hunnicutt Stadium, Princeton shutout Shady Spring on a two-hitter from John David Meadows who fanned 12 in the win.
Lucas Monaghan had a double and single with one RBI, while Landon Dillon had two singles and an RBI. Meadows also had a double at the dish. Princeton iced the game with six runs in the top of the seventh inning.
PikeView bested Bluefield in the second game at Bowen Field, 9-6 behind three RBI from Jared Vestal. Zach Rose had two hits and two RBI, while Deuce Rompon knocked in two runs. Landon Wyatt collected two hits.
Nate Redmond had four hits, including two doubles for the Beavers, while Davis Rockness had a double and two RBI. Landon Crane had a triple and two RBI.
PikeView will play Graham Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Hunnicutt Stadium.
