Hinton – Greater Beckley Christian never trailed Monday, but needed three runs in the sixth inning to pull away for a 9-5 win over Summers County in Class A Region 3, Section 1 play.
The Bobcats are eliminated with the loss and the Crusaders advance to play James Monroe Tuesday. The Mavericks need one win for the sectional title, while GBC will need two.
Reece Patterson had a home run and three RBI to lead the Crusaders and Hunter Crist had two RBI. Kolton Harper had a double and a single, while John Rose had two hits.
Ryan Oliveros and Colton Jones both hit a home run for the Bobcats and Brandan Isaac added a double.
