PikeView 11, Westside 10
Gardner – PikeView rallied from an 8-3 deficit Monday evening to avoid an upset against Westside, beating the Renegades 11-10 in eight innings in Gardner.
Errors plagued Westside with he winning run scoring on an error on a ground ball from Austin Bennett.
Peyton Greer led the Panthers at the plate with a pair of hits and RBIs.
Nathan Riffe, the team’s ace, threw 13 pitches in relief to secure the win, making him eligible to pitch in Tuesday’s contest against Bluefield.
Zach Short led Westside in the loss with three hits and three RBIs.
The Panthers will host Bluefield next with a spot in the sectional title game on the line. The two teams split their regular season series with each winning on their home fields.
Westside will travel to Wyoming East Tuesday in an elimination game.
Greenbrier West 22, Webster County 3
Charmco – Greenbrier West pounded out 17 hits and capitalized on eight Webster County errors Monday to secure a 22-3 five-inning victory in the Class A Region 3, Section 2 sectional tournament in Charmco.
With the win West will travel to Midland Trail Tuesday.
Dale Boone and Cole Randall led the charge with three hits each in the win for West.
Randall also collected four RBIs.
