Independence 6, Bluefield 1
Bluefield – Independence broke the game open with four runs in the top of the sixth inning en route to a 6-1 win over regional rival Bluefield at Bowen Field.
Cole Cunningham collected three hits and had two RBI to lead the Patriots. Levi Barnett also drove in a pair of runs on two hits, while Caleb Riddle smacked a double to bring home two more.
J.D. Monroe pitched six strong innings allowing just one run and scattering five hits. Monroe also had two hits in four trips to the plate.
Hunter Harmon had a double to drive in the only Bluefield run and Davis Rockness smacked a triple.
Independence travels to Shady Spring Monday, while Bluefield hosts Wyoming East Saturday.
Oak Hill 15, Liberty 4 (5 innings)
The visiting Red Devils plated nine runs in the first inning and rolled past Liberty 15-4 in five innings Thursday in Glen Daniel.
Jayden McClain had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs to pace Oak Hill. Micah McCarraher had a double and two RBI, while Connor Smith also drove in a pair of runs for the Red Devils.
Dylan Tincher had a double as part of his two-hit night along with one RBI.
Landon Hall had two hits including a double for the Raiders who travel to Midland Trail Friday.
Oak Hill visits Greater Beckley Christian Friday.
