Shady Spring 12, Marion, Va. 4
Bluefield – Cameron Manns homered and threw a complete game as Shady Spring defeated Marion, Va. Thursday at Bowen Field in Bluefield to advance to the championship game of the Coppinger Tournament.
Leading 6-4 after five innings, the Tigers scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by a. pair of squeeze plays, to create a cushion for Manns to finish out the game.
Mann and Tyler Mackey led the Tigers at the plate with two hits each, driving in two runs each as well. Aden Sabot also drove in two runs in the win.
The Tigers will face the winner of Thursday evening’s Chilihowie-Tazewell game on Friday at Bowen Field.
Beckley 16, Liberty 2
Beckley – Danny Dickenson collected three hits and drove in three runs as Beckley defeated Liberty 16-2 in five innings on senior night.
Micah Clay, Connor Mollohan and Logan Williams were all hot at the plate for the Flying Eagles as well, collecting two hits each.
Landon Hall and Colton Williams led the raiders with a hit and an RBI each in the loss.
Independence 9, Nicholas County 4
Coal City – Clay Basham collected three hits as Independence defeated Nicholas County 9-4 at home Thursday evening.
Carson Brown, J.D. Monroe and David Shufflebarger each drove in two runs for the Patriots in the win while Tanner Sipes picked up the win, fanning nine in three innings of work.
Indy improves to 9-0 and will travel to Harrison County for the McDonalds Classic on Saturday.
Greater Beckley 8, James Monroe 1
Beckley – Reep Patterson fired a no-hitter Thursday as Greater Beckley defeated James Monroe 8-1 in Beckley.
Patterson struck out 13 in the win with his lone blemish coming on. single walk with a trio of errors committed behind him in the field.
Eli Grubb and Will Graham collected multiple hits for the Crusaders in the win.
Man 15, Westside 1
Clearfork – Man scored 15 runs Thursday, taking advantage of six Westside errors to down the Renegades 15-1 in Clearfork.
Brady Hall-Montgomery led the Hillbillies with two hits, driving in there runs while John Mccoy drove in five runs.
Kaiden Vance had one of Westside two hits.
Wyoming East 18, Van 8
New Richmond – Jacob Howard launched his third home run of the year Thursday as Wyoming East defeated Van 18-8 in New Richmond.
Howard finished with two hits, driving in two runs while Tanner Whitten also launched a home run.
Hayden Blankenship led the Warriors, driving in 4 runs.
East improves to 7-3 and will host Liberty on Friday.
