The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Dutch Miller and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for a third year.
Below are the candidates for the first week of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Kellan Heffernan, Greater Beckley – Heffernan helped the Crusaders to a 3-0 start highlighted by a 23-point showing against West Logan.
- David Thomas, PikeView – Thomas poured in 28 points in a win against Oak Hill.
- Malachi Lewis, Oak Hill – Lewis opened the season averaging over 20 points a game, highlighted by a 26-point showing against Nicholas County.
- Ammar Maxwell, Shady Spring – Maxwell scored in double figures three times, scoring 18 against Morgantown and 20 against University.
- Ryan Cole, James Monroe – Cole erupted for 29 points in a win over Meadow Bridge.
- Bryar Bailes, Midland Trail – Bailes broke double digits three times with a high of 25 to pace the Patriots.
- Elijah Redfern, Beckley – Redfern scored 24 against Greenbrier East and 32 against University, both wins for Beckley.
- Brandan Isaac, Summers County – Isaac scored 32 in a win against Mercer Christian.
- RJ Hairston, Bluefield – Hairston scored 28 and 19 in the Beavers’ first two game to help his squad to a 2-0 start.
- Coltin Lester, Westside – Lester scored 19 in Westside’s opening win.
- Brody Hamric, Greenbrier East – Hamric scored 12 and 13, helping East notch a comeback win at Oak Hill.
- Cole Lambert Wyoming East – Lambert scored 30 twice, including a program-tying 39 in a win against Liberty.
