Greater Beckley 74, Mercer Christian 70 (OT)
Summersville – Greater Beckley Christian survived a spirited effort from Mercer Christian to take a 74-70 overtime win Thursday in the quarterfinals of the West Virginia Christian Athletic Tournament.
Trailing by nine early in the third period, the Crusaders rallied to take the lead, but could not close the battle out at the line in regulation play.
Freshman Eli Patton knocked down a 3-ball in the waning seconds to send the game to an extra session tied 66-66.
Keegan Davidson hit the first bucket in overtime before he found Aaron Hall free inside for a lead Greater Beckley never relinquished down the stretch.
Four free-throws from Kellen Heffernan closed out the win.
Heffernan led the balanced Crusaders with 24 points, while Hall had 17 and Davidson scored 13. Isaiah Kincaid added 11 and Averyk Woodson chipped in nine.
The tough loss overshadowed a great night from M.J. Patton who poured in a game-high 36 points for the Cavaliers to go along with eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Eli Patton scored 13 and Isaac Sharp had eight points and 13 rebounds.
Greater Beckley will now play No. 1-seed Cross Lanes Christian at 8 p.m. in Friday night’s semifinal round. Cross Lanes beat No. 8 Calvary Baptist 57-41.
Mercer Christian will play Calvary in the consolation round at 1:30 p.m.

Summersville – No. 7-seed Mount Hope Christian shook off a sluggish start Thursday and rallied for a 46-45 upset win over No. 2-seed Grace Christian in the quarterfinals of the West Virginia Christian Athletic Tournament.
After scoring just three first quarter points, the Warriors outscored Grace Christian 19-10 in the second to take a 22-20 lead at halftime.
Senior Josiah McKoy led the Warriors with 21 points including 10 in the second period and seven in the fourth quarter.
Nolan Carney added nine points and Branson Miller scored eight.
David Weibe led Grace Christian with 19 and Jonathan Holderby added 15.
Mount Hope will play No. 3-seed Teays Valley Christian in the semifinal round Friday.
Teays Valley defeated No. 6 Calvary Baptist 73-51 Thursday.

Charmco – James Monroe held Greenbrier West to just two points in the fourth quarter to secure a 42-31 win Thursday.
Brady Baker led the Mavericks with a game-high and a career-high 19 points and Cooper Ridgeway scored nine.
Brayden McClung paced the Cavaliers with 16 points.

Fairlea – Shady Spring completed the regular season tri-fecta over Greenbrier East Thursday with a 66-45 win inside Spartan Gym.
Ammar Maxwell led four Tigers in double-figures with 21, while Jack Williams added 12 points. Gavin Davis and Jalon Bailey scored 11 points each for the Tigers who host Independence Friday night.
Gabe Patton led the Spartans with 12 points and Nathan Dixon scored 11.
