Prep Basketball Roundup: Trail, Montcalm, Greenbrier West, Greater Beckley, Westside, Summers and Wyoming East earn Friday wins

Midland Trail 71, Independence 54

Midland Trail jumped out to a 34-21 lead at halftime and made it stand in a 71-54 win over Independence in Coal City Friday.

Eli Campbell led five Trail players in double figures with 20 points and Jaden Gladwell scored 15. Justin Cooper had 14 points, while Payton Bailes and Thad Brown had 10 points each.

Logan Mink paced Indy with 15 points and Ashton Arthur added 14 points.

Montcalm – The Generals outscored the Lumberjacks 14-4 in the third quarter en route to a 44-37 win Friday.

Donovan Reed scored 16 to lead Montcalm and Justin Pacitto added 15.

Tyler Barnhouse had 11 for Richwood, while Christian Griffith scored 10 and Grant Russell chipped in eight.

Princeton – Greater Beckley survived a nail-biter Friday night with a 50-47 win over Mercer Christian.

Isaiah Kincaid led the Crusaders with 17 points, followed by Keegan Davidson with 13 points and Aaron Hall added 10.

M.J. Patton scored a game-high 22 points for the Cavaliers, including his 1,00th career point, while younger brother Eli Patton scored 12 points and Chance Watkins added eight.

Dunmore – Greenbrier West took a commanding lead into halftime and rolled past Pocahontas County 70-47 Friday.

Braydon McClung scored 22 points for the Cavaliers and Tanner Hagy had 18. Isaac Agee added 12 and Chris Davis ended the night with 11.

Dillon Dunz led the Warriors with 18 points and Matthew McQuain  had 10.

Greenbrier West

Ashton – Hannah outscored Meadow Bridge 41-23 in the second half to take a 75-52 win Friday.

Eli Chapman led Hannan with 24 points and Cameron Wright had 17 points.

Brycen Sawyers had 26 points to lead all scorers for Meadow Bridge.

Summersville – Westside knocked down 11 shots from behind the arc and defeated Nicholas County 64-63 in overtime.

Austin Bishop hit five long balls and scored 26 points for the Renegades (8-4). Brayden French added 15 points and Bryson Blankenship scored 12.

Trey Stump had 26 for the Grizzlies (6-7), while Ethan Collins had 14 and Ethan O’Dell scored 11.

Hinton – Summers County led 40-16 at halftime and was never threatened, toppling Liberty 80-39 Friday in Hinton.

Brandan Isaac led Summers with 28 points in the win while Ayden Plumley netted 21.

Jaden Acord led Liberty with 24 in the loss.

Matewan – Wyoming East crossed the border into Mingo County Friday night, earning a 52-30 win over the Miners.

Cole Lambert led the Warriors with 15 points while Konner Fox netted 11.

Braxton Morgan finished with four points but hauled in 18 rebounds in the win.
