OAK HILL – Friday night when Woodrow Wilson battled longtime rival Oak Hill, it was not a must win for the Flying Eagles in regards to the playoffs, but a victory would avoid that scenario next week when they hosted George Washington.
After falling behind 7-0 in the opening quarter, Beckley scored 21 unanswered for a 21-7 win over the Red Devils putting them in the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
Matt Moore scored the first Beckley touchdown and toted the rock for a school record 29 times, gaining 180 yards which sent him over 1,000 yards for the season to lead the comeback.
Darmonte’ Mitchell and Nate Grayton added second quarter scores for the Flying Eagles who snapped a two-game skid and improved to 6-3.
Oak Hill fell to 5-5 and will likely miss the postseason. The Red Devils were led by Omar Lewis with 101 yards, while J.D. Mauritz added 49 yards and a touchdown.
