The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Dutch Miller Auto Group has arrived in the Kanawha Valley!
Over the last two years, we at Lootpress have elected a Player of the Week winner in the southern coalfields. This year we’re expanding to give the Kanawha Valley (Boone, Kanawha and Putnam counties) its own poll with its own players to choose from. For the southern coalfields poll, click here.
Below are the candidates for the first week of the prep football season. Voting will close Tuesday at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
The top overall vote getter will advance to our Community Choice poll at the end of the regular season where the winner of that poll will receive a $500 scholarship.

- Noah Vellaithambi, Hurricane – Vellaithambi ran through the Spring Valley defense to the tune of 271 yards and five touchdowns on 34 carries Friday evening.
- Matt Frye, Scott – Frye threw four touchdown passes and ran for another for the Skyhawks Friday evening.
- Preston Bonnet, Poca – Bonnet rushed for 201 yards and a touchdown but also forced two fumbles, recovered one and had an interception in the Dots’ win.
- Cam Harris, Capital – Harris ran for 60 yards and a score, caught two passes for 49 yards and returned a kick 65 yards for another score.
- Easton Pinkerton, Winfield – Pinkerton completed seven passing attempts for 97 yards and two touchdowns, adding 142 yards and another touchdown on the ground.
- Blake Fisher, Herbert Hoover – Fisher hauled in eight passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns, adding 31 yards on the ground as Hoover improved to 2-2.
