The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele has returned.
Below are the candidates for the seventh week of the prep football season. Voting will close Monday at 4 P.M. and be announced on the Lootpress Sports Lowdown show which can be seen here. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. Please read that sentence again. The poll determines the Community Choice winner and is used in the event of a tiebreaker. It DOES NOT determine the overall Player of the Week winner. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
The top overall vote getter will advance to our Community Choice poll at the end of the regular season where the winner of that poll will receive a $500 scholarship.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Sylas Nelson, Independence – Nelson rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns, adding three catches for 82 yards in a win at Westside.
- Devin Nash, Nicholas County – Nash rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns, adding two catches for 35 yards, He also intercepted a pass in a victory against Braxton County.
- Layton Dowdy, James Monroe – Dowdy completed 10 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, adding 120 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 12 carries.
- Jalon Bailey, Shady Spring – Bailey caught five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown, rushed three times for 23 yards and a touchdown and intercepted a pass in a Shady Spring win.
- Jaylen Younger, Montcalm – Younger completed 15 of 19 passes for 319 yards and four touchdowns, adding 45 yards rushing in Montcalm’s 59-12 win over Phelps.
- James Green, Oak Hill – Green ran the ball 30 times for 112 yards, adding 11 tackles, four for a loss and two sacks in a win over Greenbrier East.
