Oak Hill 21, Greenbrier East 14
Oak Hill – On a night of big plays, AAA No. 6 Oak Hill made one more than longtime rival Greenbrier East to earn a 21-14 victory Friday night at John P. Duda Field.
J.D Mauritz scored on a 10-yard run and quarterback Devin Richardson scampered for a 57-yard touchdown run to give Oak Hill a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
Greenbrier East signal caller Brody Hamric then hit Nate Suttle on a 55-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead in half at the break.
The Red Devils answered with another long strike when Carson Treadway scored on a 44-yard run in the third quarter. Brady May pulled the Spartans back withing seven with a 21-yard scoring jaunt, but the visitors could get no closer.
James Green tallied 112 yards for Oak Hill and May had 121 yards for Greenbrier East.
Oak Hill (5-1) travels to Buckhannon-Upshur Friday, while Greenbrier East (2-4) hosts Nicholas County.
