Summersville – Kaleb Clark ran the ball 29 times for 221 yards and two touchdowns as Class AA No. 7 Nicholas County defeated Class A No. 7 James Monroe 25-7 Friday in Summersville.
The Grizzlies rolled on both sides of the ball, piling up 392 yards of total offense while limiting the Mavericks to only 109.
All but 35 of those yards came on the ground for Nicholas with Alex Pritt adding 74 and a score.
James Monroe’s lone score came courtesy of a run from Cooper Ridgeway.
The Grizzlies improve to 7-2 and will close the season at home against PikeView on Friday while James Monroe drops to 5-3 and will travel to Covington, Va. on Tuesday before turning around and hosting Summers County on Friday.
