CLAY – Summers County traveled to Class AA No. 7 Clay County Friday clinging to a possible playoff berth, sitting just outside the top-16 teams that will earn postseason spots at the season’s end.
Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the road got a little more rocky after a 28-19 setback against the Panthers.
Drake Cole led Summers County with 229 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. Coen McClaugherty and Tyson Adkins added a score, while Adkins rushed for 71 yards on 11 carries.
Summers County (5-4) will be at home Friday night for its final home game of the season when it hosts Class A No. 2 James Monroe in a must win game for any shot at the playoffs.
