Greenbrier East 8, Oak Hill 0 (6 innings)
Fairlea – Lily Carola fired a two-hit shut and fanned 14 batters to lead No. 1 seed Greenbrier East past No. 4 seed Oak Hill 8-0 in their Class AAA Region 3, Section 2 opener Tuesday.
Alanis McClary stroked a double and had two RBI to go along with Taylor Bowell who collected two hits and also had two RBI.
Lindsey Black had two hits, while Gracie Gumm hit a double and Hailey Ervin drove in two more runs.
Olivia Honaker and Sadie Branch each had a hit for the Red Devils.
Greenbrier East is schedule to host Beckley in a winner’s bracket game Wednesday. Oak Hill will travel to Princeton for an elimination game the same night.
Bluefield 17, Westside 1 (5 innings)
Bluefield – Bluefield scored in all four trips to the plate including a 10-run fourth inning to defeat Westside in the Class AA Region 3, Section 1 opener Tuesday.
Madison Lawson blasted a grand slam home run, while Grace Richardson added four hits, including a double, and three RBI to pace the Beavers at the plate.
Taylor Maybry, Abigail Richardson and Isabella Smith each drove in two runs for the Beavers.
Kinley Morgan had a home run for the Renegades.
Bluefield will travel to Wyoming East Wednesday for a winner’s bracket clash, while Westside will host PikeView Wednesday in an elimination game.
