Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Independence opened a 4-0 lead and went on to beat Maumee, Ohio, 8-2 Tuesday at the Ripken Experience Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Kendall Martin had two hits and drove in the three runs, while Emma Lilly added two hits and two RBI to lead the Patriots.
Delaney Buckland allowed just three hits and struckout 13 batters to up the win in the circle. Buckland also collected three hits in the win.
Haley Hughes had two hits and knocked in both runs for the Panthers.
Greenbrier East 13, Beckley 0 (5 innings)
Fairlea – Greenbrier East scored eight runs in the bottom of the third inning and beat longtime rival Beckley, 13-0 Tuesday.
Josi Ervin allowed just one hit and struckout nine to baffle the Flying Eagles in the circle.
Lilly Carola blasted a home run and Jenna Groves knocked in two runs to lead the Spartans. Alanis McClary, Haylee Heaster and Taylor Boswell all had an RBI.
Natalia Meade had a double for the Flying Eagles.
Wyoming East 6, Princeton 2
New Richmond – Alivia Monroe drove in a pair of runs Tuesday as Wyoming East secured a 6-2 win over Princeton.
The Tigers were in control through five innings until the Warriors rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Paytin Brehm picked up the win in her return from a hand injury.
Hayden Jones led the Tigers with tow hits in the loss.
