PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities in Princeton arrested a local woman accused of firing a gun multiple times outside a residence in the early hours of February 1, 2025.
According to a report from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Sgt. G.C. Paitsel and Deputy W.C. Morrow responded to a brandishing complaint at approximately 12:39 a.m. at a residence on Cannon Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Christina Allen and Gage White, who reported that a woman, identified as Summer Thornton, had driven into their driveway and discharged a firearm multiple times in close proximity to their home.
Allen told deputies that Thornton had no reason to be at the residence, stating that they were former friends but had no ongoing issues. She also noted that she lives with three children and two elderly adults and expressed concern over Thornton’s mental state, stating she should not be in possession of a firearm.
White corroborated Allen’s account, stating that Thornton initially fired four to five shots before leaving, only to return moments later and fire another round before departing. White stated that he did not know Thornton personally but was aware of her past friendship with Allen.
During their investigation, deputies discovered a spent shell casing in the driveway. Photos of the casing were taken at 12:24 a.m., and it was later collected as evidence. Both Allen and White provided written statements to law enforcement.
Deputies advised the residents that they could file for a Protective Safety Order through the Magistrate’s Office during regular business hours.
Based on the evidence collected, law enforcement filed a warrant for Summer Thornton on a charge of wanton endangerment involving a firearm (WV Code 61-7-12).
