HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Huntington property owner says a repeat trespasser has been entering his apartment building and causing ongoing problems for residents.
Scott Hutchison, who owns the building at 535 4th Avenue in Huntington, told authorities during a phone interview Tuesday evening that he has repeatedly encountered a woman who is neither a tenant nor affiliated with anyone living on the property.
According to Hutchison, the most recent incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on May 31, when he arrived to perform maintenance and found the same woman inside the building. He said this has been an ongoing issue since early February, and that he has personally told the woman to leave—and physically escorted her out—about 10 times.
Hutchison said the woman typically loiters outside the front entrance and waits for tenants to enter, then holds the door before it locks to gain access. He added that residents have complained about individuals believed to be homeless entering the building, where they’ve been found sleeping, urinating, and defecating in the hallways and stairwells.
The building does not currently have security cameras inside, making documentation difficult.
Hutchison said tenants recently provided him with a possible name, which he used to match the woman to an arrest mugshot on the Western Regional Jail website. He identified her as Leslie Ann Barcus-Duncan.
The call between Hutchison and the investigating officer was recorded via bodycam and included his full verbal statement.
