CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) has approved an operational agreement that would allow the McDowell County Public Service District (PSD) to take over management of the Bradshaw sewer system.
The approval, issued Wednesday, is contingent on the town of Bradshaw providing proper public notice of the change, finalizing transfer terms without further modification, and the district adopting the town’s current sewer rates.

The decision follows a PSC investigation launched last October after numerous complaints, including reports of untreated sewage spilling on the ground between two Bradshaw schools.
Under the Commission’s order, McDowell County PSD will assume operation and maintenance of the troubled system, which serves 112 customers, according to its last annual report.
The Bradshaw Town Council approved the agreement last November, but it was not filed with the PSC until earlier this year.
“The transfer should be accomplished as soon as possible,” the Commission stated in its order.
