MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission will conduct a public comment hearing, followed immediately by the evidentiary hearing, in the case involving the City of Gary sewer utility. The hearing will begin at 11 a.m. November 30 at the McDowell Public Library, Herzbrun Room, 90 Howard Street, Welch.
The Public Service Commission will conduct this evidentiary hearing to determine whether the Gary’s sewer system is a distressed or failing utility. The hearing will be conducted by an administrative law judge, who will also hear evidence concerning whether the City of Welch, McDowell County Public Service District, Veolia, and West Virginia-American Water Company would be capable of taking over the system.
“Clean, reliable sewer service is essential to the health of any community,” PSC Chairman Charlotte Lane said. “The Commission’s goal is to determine the most appropriate solution for everyone concerned to see the citizens of Gary have sewer service that meets their needs.”
