RAINELLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at approximately 2:00 am, Sergeant C. R. Smith and Lieutenant B. A. Sheppard, of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle near the intersection of US Route 60 and the James River Kanawha Turnpike in Rainelle, WV.
The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of an apartment building and the driver, who was carrying a backpack, exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. Sergeant Smith pursued and subsequently took the suspect, identified as Chet Edward Gunder, age 45 of Rainelle, WV, into custody.
Mr. Gunder was found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun, a .45 caliber handgun, several individual Ziplock baggies containing a total of over 100 grams of methamphetamine, 7.6 grams of heroin, 2.3 grams of marijuana, 3 LSD stamps, .6 grams of MDMA and digital scales.
Chet Gunder was charged with 5 counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and fleeing on foot and was incarcerated in the Southern Regional Jail in Beaver, WV.
