RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office has released details about a recent motor vehicle accident in the Josephine area that led to a search for a fleeing driver.
According to Sheriff Frank Priddy, Deputy C. Bare responded to a motor vehicle accident with injury on October 4, 2025.
While en route, dispatch advised that one of the individuals involved in the crash had fled the scene on foot.
Upon arrival, Deputy Bare requested assistance from Corporal J. Howard and his K-9 partner, Scio.
The pair arrived on scene and, along with Deputy Bare, conducted a successful track that led them to a female suspect hiding in a wooded area near the crash site.
The woman was identified as Pauletta Cox. She was escorted to emergency medical personnel and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Sheriff Priddy and Chief Deputy Frankie Shelton thanked Deputy Bare, Corporal Howard, K-9 Scio, and Lt. J. Williams for their teamwork and professionalism in resolving the case.
The incident remains under investigation.
