RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County father has officially been indicted on charges related to sexual abuse and having an incestuous relationship with his daughter that resulted in the birth of three children.
Lootpress first brought you this story back in early March. A criminal complaint filed in Raleigh County alleged that Kenneth Cook, 43, of MacArthur, participated in a non-consensual sexual relationship with his biological daughter. The incestuous relationship resulted in the birth of three children.
The complaint stated the first child was born when the victim was 16 and Cook was 38.
While receiving medical care, the medical staff was of the opinion that the 1-year-old was “extremely malnourished” and had been medically neglected due to the fact that his health had continued to deteriorate.
Also while receiving medical care, the doctor taking care of the 1-year-old at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) was concerned that the 1-year-old was showing characteristics “commonly seen in an incestuous relationship.”
Following the concern, genetic testing was done on all three juveniles and sent to the Mayo Clinic for further examination.
The results showed that the juvenile’s parent shared a first generational relationship, first generational being a parent or full blooded sibling.
According to the complaint, the victim has no full blooded siblings.
A Grand Jury in Raleigh County has returned a 152-count indictment against Cook. The Grand Jury was presented evidence that the incestuous relationship began back in 2012, when the victim was 9 years old.
Cook is facing one count of third-degree sexual assault, one count of sexual abuse by a parent, 148 counts of incest, and one count of gross child neglect.
Cook is due in court on Tuesday, June 24, at 9:30 am in Judge Froble’s courtroom for a formal arraingment.
