CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Crab Orchard woman has been sentenced to five years of federal probation, including six months of home detention, for selling fentanyl, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Melanie E. Hussain, 25, was sentenced on Monday for distributing a quantity of fentanyl.
Court documents and statements revealed that on November 2, 2022, Hussain sold approximately 4.2 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant for $300.
The next day, she also sold 2.3 grams of methamphetamine to the same informant, also for $300. Both drug sales took place at her residence in Crab Orchard.
Hussain admitted to the transactions in court.
The case was investigated by the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, which includes officers from the West Virginia State Police, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and Beckley Police Department.
Chief U.S. District Judge Frank W. Volk handed down the sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian D. Parsons prosecuted the case.
