BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh General Hospital has announced the promotion of Eric Flynn, MHA, BSN, RN, to Chief Nursing Officer, effective June 21, 2026.
Flynn currently serves as Director of Nursing and will succeed longtime Chief Nursing Officer Marsha Jamison, who is retiring after a lengthy healthcare career.
Hospital officials said the promotion reflects the organization’s commitment to leadership development and succession planning. Flynn has worked closely with Jamison over the years, helping guide nursing operations while gaining experience in nursing leadership.
Flynn began his healthcare career as a critical care nurse before advancing to Director of the Intensive Care Units and later Director of Nursing. Hospital leaders said he has demonstrated a commitment to patient care, quality outcomes, staff development and operational excellence throughout his career.
Before entering healthcare, Flynn worked as an ironworker. He holds a Master of Healthcare Administration degree, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and is a Registered Nurse.
“As an organization, we are incredibly proud to promote Eric into this important leadership role,” said David Brash, Chief Executive Officer of Raleigh General Hospital.
“His clinical expertise, operational knowledge, and dedication to our mission make him qualified to lead our nursing teams. Because of the strong partnership Eric and Marsha have built over the years, I am confident this transition will be seamless for our staff, providers, and patients.”
Jamison has served as a leader, mentor and advocate during her tenure at Raleigh General Hospital and helped shape the hospital’s nursing culture.
“I have had the privilege of working alongside Eric through different roles and watching him grow as a leader,” said Marsha Jamison, Chief Nursing Officer.
“He understands our culture, our staff, and most importantly, our patients. I can think of no one better prepared to continue leading our nursing teams, and I am excited to see all that he will accomplish in this role.”
Flynn said he is honored to continue serving the hospital and community in his new position.
“It is an incredible honor to serve as Raleigh General Hospital’s next Chief Nursing Officer,” Flynn said.
“This hospital has been my professional home throughout much of my nursing career, and I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given to grow as both a clinician and leader. I look forward to building upon the strong foundation Marsha has established and continuing to support our nurses as we provide exceptional care to the communities we serve.”
Raleigh General Hospital also expressed gratitude to Jamison for her years of service and leadership and wished her well in retirement.
