BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh General Hospital has introduced a new autonomous floor cleaning robot as part of its Environmental Services team and is inviting the community to help choose a name for the new addition.
The hospital announced Wednesday that the robot, developed by Peppermint Robotics, uses autonomous technology to help maintain cleanliness throughout the facility while assisting Environmental Services staff with daily operations.
Hospital officials said the robot is designed to clean large floor areas efficiently, allowing staff members to focus on detailed cleaning and patient-centered tasks.
“Our Environmental Services team plays an essential role in patient care and safety every single day,” said Bryan Thompson, Environmental Services Director at Raleigh General Hospital.
“This new technology helps support our staff while enhancing our ability to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors.”
As part of the rollout, Raleigh General Hospital is asking community members to submit name ideas for the robot through an online contest.
“We wanted to make this fun and interactive for our community,” said David L. Brash, CEO of Raleigh General Hospital.
“This robot represents innovation, teamwork, and our continued investment in creating an environment focused on healing and comfort for our patients and families.”
Community members can submit name suggestions through the hospital’s website. The winning name will be announced on Raleigh General Hospital’s social media channels on June 10.
Hospital officials said the addition of the robot reflects Raleigh General’s ongoing investment in technology and resources aimed at supporting cleanliness, safety and patient care.
