WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Samaritan’s Purse has deployed a disaster relief unit to northern West Virginia after flash floods caused severe damage and claimed multiple lives in the region.
Following days of torrential rainfall, flash flooding struck Ohio County, prompting a state of emergency.
Rapidly rising creeks washed away bridges and flooded homes, leading to the deaths of at least seven people.
In response, Samaritan’s Purse is mobilizing Disaster Relief Unit 3—a tractor-trailer loaded with tools and supplies—to support recovery efforts.
Volunteers are scheduled to begin work on Wednesday, June 19, assisting residents with flood cleanup, including removing water-damaged walls and flooring, salvaging belongings, and providing emotional and spiritual support.
The organization is coordinating with local emergency management and church leaders, with Newbridge Church at 647 Warden Run Road in Wheeling serving as the host site for the response effort.
Samaritan’s Purse is asking for prayers and encouraging volunteers to join the recovery mission. More information about volunteering is available at spvolunteer.org.
