FAIRMONT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Saturday, April 9, 2022, author Diana Pishner Walker will present two workshops hosted by Fairmont State University’s Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center.
The event, part of the Second Saturday event series, will begin with the “Signing Books and Sharing Stories” workshop at 11am. This workshop will be geared toward adults and teens who have an interest in writing for children.
This session will see Walker, a Fairmont native, detailing her own path to becoming a published children’s writer.
The second workshop, “Bunnies Everywhere!” will be directed at younger readers, and will begin at 1pm. This portion of the afternoon will feature a reading from Walker’s award-winning books about a family of rabbits.
Children’s activities will follow the reading, and signed copies of Walker’s books will be available for purchase during these workshops.
Walker, a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Fairmont State, held a position with the Marion County Board of Education for over 25 years before resigning to put all her energy into writing full-time.
“We are so delighted to host Diana Pishner Walker,” stated Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin. “Her award-winning, enchanting stories speak to the experience of so many families who settled in this region. Diana is a former Fairmont State student and a Fairmont resident, and it’s so wonderful to be able to celebrate and share her achievements.”
These workshops, as well as all Second Saturday events by the Folklife Center, are free and open to the public. Those interested in attending these workshops can RSVP by calling (304) 367-4403 or emailing fkirk@fairmontstate.edu.
