MINERAL WELLS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A semi truck turning in the Mineral Wells area on Thursday, causing general havoc after getting caught on a cable, according to authorities.

The Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department reports that, at approximately 11:30pm on Thursday, a semi truck attempted to turn around in the parking lot area of the Mineral Wells 7-11.

Emerging from the exit of the car wash at the front of the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Station, the semi made contact with and pulled down a very large cable line, causing, “havoc in the area.”

Detailing the incident, MWVFD indicated that an array of damage came about as a result, noting that the vehicle, “held enough tension to break 2 power poles before snapping in two and landing across parking lots and Elizabeth Pike. During this incident, the line also took down our yellow flashing caution light, which would flash whenever ever we had a fire related emergency.”

Regarding potential next steps in relation to the addressing of the property damage sustained as part of the Thanksgiving accident, the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department expressed uncertainty and urged that motorists traveling in the area exercise caution.

“It’s unclear at this time what our next steps will be to get some type of replacement up,” read a statement released on Friday morning. “We are asking that you be alert when passing our station and watch for our trucks to be responding at any given moment until we can figure out our options for replacement.”

While it was confirmed that video footage taken at the scene assisted authorities in confirming the nature of the incident, the footage in question was of such clarity that identifying details regarding the vehicle and driver involved were unattainable. Additionally, the involved driver did not remain at the scene to cooperate with responders.
