RENICK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Senator Vince Deeds has announced his intention to seek re-election to the West Virginia State Senate representing the 10th District in the 2026 election.
According to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s website, Deeds has filed his precandidate paperwork for the upcoming race.
Senator Jack Woodrum (R-Summers), the Senior Senator from the 10th District, is listed as the campaign’s treasurer.
“God, family, and service are not just words, but our way of life,” stated Deeds.
“When I ran for this seat, I pledged to work on cutting our taxes, improving our business climate so job creators can survive but also thrive, and voting in the best interest of our district, and that is exactly what we have done for the past three years.”
Deeds currently serves as Vice Chair of both the Health and Human Resources Committee and the Natural Resources Committee.
He is also a member of the Agriculture, Education, Judiciary, Military, Health, and Workforce committees, in addition to serving on the Select Committee on Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health.
“I am proud to stand by my conservative record, voting for the largest tax cut in state history for individuals and businesses, removing red tape for job creators, strengthening our laws that protect our children and women’s sports,” said Deeds.
“I am asking the voters in the 10th District to allow me to continue serving in our State Senate so I can continue to keep the promises I have made.
“While we have accomplished a lot, there is still much work to do in order to eliminate the state income tax, bring more jobs to our area, support our tourism industry, and improve our education system.”
Deeds is a graduate of Hinton High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Political Science from Virginia Tech and a Master’s in Psychology from the University of Virginia, completed at the FBI Academy in Quantico.
He is retired from the West Virginia State Police and currently works with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in Lewisburg.
He also serves as the Director of School Safety for Greenbrier County Schools and is the Pastor of Sinks Grove Baptist Church.
Deeds is married to his longtime wife, Michelle. They have two sons, Tristan and Justin Deeds, and one granddaughter, Darcie Deeds.
