WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Several counties throughout West Virginia have been advised of strong thunderstorms approaching which could lead to localized flooding and winds capable of bringing down tree limbs.
According to Mingo County Emergency Management Services, as of 10:35am on Wednesday, doppler radar tracking has indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms moving east at 55mph over the Galveston area just west of Pikeville.
Reports indicate that wind gusts up to 55mph can be anticipated, bringing with them gusty winds with the potential to knock down tree limbs and move unsecured objects.
Locations to potentially be impacted by the conditions include McDowell and Buchanan Counties, as well as Southeastern Mingo County and Southern Wyoming County.
Residents are warned not to navigate vehicles through flooded roadways to do the potential of localized flooding from torrential rains.
It is said that storm conditions may intensify, and those outdoors are encouraged to seek shelter inside a building.
