TUCKER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Embrace the snow-covered peaks of Tucker County with the return of Ski The Valley for the 2023/2024 winter season. Tucker County provides an elevated experience by combining the thrill of three top-tier ski resorts, collectively offering more than 100 trails, along with family-friendly winter activities and the welcoming hospitality of local businesses.
Ski The Valley is a seasonal initiative created by the Tucker County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), in partnership with Canaan Valley Resort, Timberline Mountain and White Grass. This seasonal initiative, a cornerstone of winter activities in the area for decades, has evolved from a two-day ski ticket promotion to a comprehensive winter experience showcasing the premier ski resorts and winter activities in Tucker County.
Canaan Valley Resort State Park and Timberline Mountain, located within seven miles of each other, boast over 80 runs catering to skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels. Both resorts provide the perfect blend of fun and skill enhancement with state-of-the-art snowmaking systems, efficient lifts, gear rentals and lessons from certified instructors. Additionally, White Grass Ski Touring Center, recognized as one of the “Best Cross-Country Ski Resorts,” features over 35 miles of maintained trails.
“We’re excited to welcome visitors to Tucker County this winter,” said Jessica Waldo, Executive Director of the Tucker County CVB. “Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning friend, we hope you discover the warmth of our community and the thrill of all the winter activities available; as a local tip, visit us mid-week to avoid the crowds and take advantage of a snowy day.”
For families seeking diverse winter adventures, Blackwater Falls State Park’s quarter-mile sled run, the East Coast’s longest, and Canaan Valley Resort’s multi-lane tube park offer additional excitement. Explore ice skating, snowshoeing and fat bike riding to round out the array of winter activities available.
Tucker County goes beyond the slopes, offering indoor activities such as rock climbing at Trail Labs, Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge Center exhibits, an adventure cave at Mountain Trail Rides, and free live music on weekend afternoons at the Purple Fiddle.
Wind down after an adventure-packed day in one of the area’s quaint mountain towns. Thomas, Davis and Parsons, nestled in the heart of Tucker County, boast a vibrant arts community with galleries, open-door studios, live music venues and businesses showcasing local art.
