SNOWSHOE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Snowshoe Mountain has officially announced its 2026 summer events calendar, highlighted by the debut of the new Ballhooter Festival, a three-day mountaintop music festival scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 4-6.
The inaugural Ballhooter Festival will feature major country and folk acts including Turnpike Troubadours, 49 Winchester, and Morgan Wade as headliners.
The festival revives the longtime “Ballhooter” name previously associated with one of Snowshoe’s popular winter traditions, but organizers say the event is being reimagined as a large-scale summer music experience atop Cheat Mountain.
In addition to the new festival, Snowshoe’s summer lineup includes the return of several popular annual events such as the Downhill Southeast Series, the Grand National Cross Country Racing Series, the 4848 Festival, and the Blues & Brews Festival.
“Summer is probably the mountain’s best kept secret, but with events like 4848 and Ballhooter, the secret is getting out,” said Patti Duncan, President and COO of Snowshoe Mountain. “We have world class mountain biking and hiking trails, all the fun activities down at Shavers Lake, one of the most beautiful golf courses in the state, and the coolest temperatures in the region to pair with it all.”
Snowshoe Mountain will officially open for summer operations on Thursday, May 21. The Raven Golf Club is already open daily for the season.
The resort offers a wide range of warm-weather activities including mountain biking, hiking, scenic chairlift rides, off-road and e-bike tours, swimming, paddling, and lake activities.
Other featured summer events include:
- Independence Day Celebration | July 3-5
- 4848 Festival | July 16-18
- Blues & Brews Festival | Aug. 1
- Ballhooter Festival | Sept. 4-6
The 4848 Festival lineup this year includes The Revivalists, Greensky Bluegrass, and STS9.
Additional summer events scheduled at the resort include trail races, community appreciation days, mountain bike competitions, golf tournaments, and off-road racing events through October.
Snowshoe’s summer season is scheduled to run through Oct. 11, which marks the closing day for the Bike Park and on-mountain activities.
