Moorefield – Independence split a doubleheader Friday in Moorefield, defeating Berkeley Springs 3-0 and falling to Washington 8-0 in the Bub Riggleman Tournament.
In the win over Berkeley Delaney Buckland allowed just three hits and struck out 14, going the distance in the win. Kendall Martin led the way at the plate with two hits while Alli Hypes drove in a run.
In the loss to Washington the Patriots were handcuffed, collecting one hit in the loss.
University 8, Greenbrier East 0
Morgantown – Autumn Stemple pitched a perfect game as University defeated Greenbrier East 8-0 in six innings Friday in Morgantown.
Seven errors doomed East in the loss with seven of the runs University scored being unearned. The lone highlight of the game for East was the 10 strikeouts accumulated by East pitcher Josi Ervin.
East drops to 8-6 and will play Morgantown on Saturday.
Princeton 8, PikeView 0
Princeton – Emma Johnson struck out 11 batters and allowed just two hits as Princeton defeated county foe PikeView 8-0 Friday in Princeton.
Riley Riggs led the assault at the plate for Princeton with three hits while Johnson and Hayden Jones drove in tow runs each.
Princeton improves to 5-12 and will travel to Grundy, Va. on Saturday
