MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man has been arrested after he tried to strike his parents violently and told police, “I had to kill them to get the demons out, I feel like I have to kill everyone I see.”
On August 27, 2021, deputies in Mercer County responded to a call in the Bramwell area of a family member with an ax. Dispatchers were advised that a man was attempting to shoot his parents with a bow and arrow. When deputies arrived, the parents said their son, Johnny Carson York Jr, has put several items in the front yard from the shed, and it began to rain. The parents asked York to put the things up, but he turned around and threw a lighter at them. The son then came on the porch with a 10-pound maul, swung it at his parents, and attempted to strike them.
The parents were able to get away and then tried to call 911. While there were calling 911, York then came around the home with a bow and arrow, aimed it at them, and drew the string back.
The parents further told deputies that York had broken a 55 inch TV. They had taken a DVP out on York for past acts of violence but had not been served yet.
When deputies tried talking to York, he refused to answer them. While York was being transported to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, he excitedly said, “I had to kill them to get the demons out; I feel like I have to kill everyone I see.”
York is charged with two counts of malicious assault, brandishing, and destruction of property. He is being held in Southern Regional Jail.
