LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A son physically assaults his mother after demanding his eyeglasses.
On July 2, 2024, Corporal S.M. Simmons from the Lewisburg Police Department responded to a Domestic complaint in Lewisburg, WV.
The victim had dialed 911, reporting that her son Travis Vandevander had forcefully entered her bedroom and physically assaulted her. Upon arrival, the victim recounted that Travis had aggressively entered her room, removed her bed covers, threatened her, demanded his eyeglasses, and then struck her in the leg with a closed fist.
The victim provided a written statement to Corporal Simmons, expressing her desire for Travis to be arrested. She also revealed that Travis frequently threatens her with bodily harm or death.
Corporal Simmons located Travis Vandevander in the basement of the residence. From a distance, the officer observed that Travis emitted a strong smell of alcohol and seemed to be intoxicated.
Travis admitted to drinking and claimed that his mother was overreacting. Corporal Simmons arrested Travis for domestic battery, took him to the Lewisburg PD for processing, and subsequently transferred him to Southern Regional Jail for arraignment.
