WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – During remarks delivered Thursday, Governor Patrick Morrisey paused to acknowledge the profound grief felt across West Virginia following the death of Sarah Beckm, who was killed in what authorities have described as an unprovoked attack. Her funeral was held Tuesday, drawing an outpouring of support from across the state.
“We’re all going to remember Sarah for a very, very long time,” the Governor said, describing her as a courageous woman whose loss continues to resonate deeply. The ceremony honoring her life was called “incredibly moving,” with many West Virginians expected to cherish her memory for years to come.
Amid the sorrow, Gov. Morrisey also shared encouraging news about Andrew Wolf, another victim connected to the incident. According to an update from his mother, Andrew has begun smiling, showing increased movement on his right side, and was even able to sit upright in a chair for several hours. While he is not yet communicating verbally, his responsiveness is improving — a positive milestone in what will be a lengthy rehabilitation process.
His parents, Melody and Jason, expressed deep gratitude for the hospital staff and for the wave of prayers and support received from people across West Virginia and beyond. They asked the public to continue praying for Andrew’s recovery whenever possible.
“Those prayers are working,” Morrisey said, emphasizing the family’s belief in the strength of community support. Although his recovery will require intensive rehabilitation, his parents remain hopeful and appreciative.
State leaders said they will continue sharing updates as Andrew progresses.
